Vocal Competition for Young Singers

The primary mission of this competition is to encourage and support exceptionally gifted high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who currently display potential for success in solo classical voice performance. Cash prizes will be awarded.  

Repertoire Requirements 

  1. Participants must offer three selections for the competition.
  2. At least two songs or arias from the standard "classical" vocal repertoire - folk songs & Spirituals included; one selection may be from the musical theatre repertoire. However, a musical theatre piece is not required.
  3. Operatic arias are not required. Should a competitor decide to offer an operatic aria, no more than one age-appropriate aria is recommended.
  4. At least one selection must be in a language other than English.

Within one week after your registration and fee are submitted, you and your teacher will receive links to fill out repertoire and recommendation forms. Applications are considered complete when the registration form, fee, repertoire, and teacher recommendation have been received by the competition administrator. Registrants or their Parent/Guardian are required to agree to the Photo/Video/Audio Release: I hereby grant permission to the University of Kentucky and its affiliates and subsidiaries, including but not limited to the UK Alumni Association, UK Athletics Association and UK Research Foundation, to interview, photograph, and/or video me, or my minor child, and/or to supervise any others who may do the interview, photography and/or videography and/or to use and/or permit others to use information from the aforementioned interview and/or the aforementioned images in educational and promotional activities for the following without compensation: University Educational Publications/Videos, University Electronic Publishing, Any University Social Media Initiatives, University Promotion/Advertising, Local/Regional/National news media (w/permission of the University of Kentucky).
